Religions believe that every human being has a soul

The soul is said to be the essential, immortal essence or energy of a being. In most religions, a soul is strongly connected to the afterlife. Often the soul is seen as immaterial, similar to a spirit and is linked to a human being.

Religions believe that after the body dies the soul continues its travel.

The expression "lost souls" sometimes refers to a spirit or ghost without a physical body to live in.
